Wow - three "I've just seen a band and here's some photos of the experience" entries in a row. That's what festival season does to me, I guess. So, on Friday night I went to see Arab Strap. First up, Architecture in Helsinki belted out some tunes, with the most impressive array of instruments on one stage that I've seen in a little while. Only got there towards the end of their set, so no photos. | ||

| One half of Arab Strap (Malcolm Middleton) jumped up on stage with a guitar and gave us a little taste of what was coming up with some of his solo stuff. Pretty laid back stuff, especially after the shenanigans of the Trail of Dead gig of one week earlier. | ||

| Next up was Mick Turner (from The Dirty Three). His thing was to play with the lights dimmed, and a "backdrop" (though it wasn't actually behind him) of some paintings that changed over time, and were meant to accompany the playing. Jud rather accurately described the whole thing as "noodling" - I'm pretty sure he just got up there with a guitar and a looping effect, and winged it. | ||
