Eggsellent

Another holiday, another German tradition that I'm trying out for the first time. On Saturday, Jud and I coloured some eggs, using Eierfarben, by Heitmann Deco. It was surprisingly easy (all you need is a pack of dye, some water, heat, and eggs), and quite fun - though it does seem kinda creepy to rub butter into an egg shell.

What I learnt from the experience is that if you take a hot hard-boiled egg, throw it into some yellow or orange dye, let it sit in there for ten minutes or so, take it out, rub it down with some butter, and then photograph it up really close (preferably at a weird angle), it looks strangely similar to a lemon or orange (respectively). Who woulda thunk it?

On Sunday morning, we blew the insides out of some eggs, and then filled 'em up again with chocolate, to create our very own Easter eggs. This proved a little more difficult than the egg colouring, and a lot of improvisation was necessary. For some reason, the chocolate we bought, even though it was especially made for melting, didn't get as runny as I would have liked, so instead of being able to pour the chocolate into the little hole in the egg, it had to be somewhat coaxed, and as such, the resultant eggs are probably not particularly hygienic - but at least they look good! That's what counts, right?
Yep, life sure is good when you've spent days just thinking about eggs, you've still got six more days 'til you go back to work, and you've just received a bonus for a job well done, which you're spending like there's no tomorrow.
